“Keyhole Narcissist” is a series of short improvisations played on our self-designed, self-built musical instruments. After working on the building and improving of these musical instruments for our upcoming soundtrack to 1920's movie ‘The Golem’, we decided to record this session as a peek into the current process.
This release was played and recorded near the end of 2018 at Kiefholzstraße 16, Berlin.
900 RPM is: Matteo Giomi, Mark Lindhout, David Müller.
We play a baritone harmonic ondulator, a nameless bowed drone string thing, various washing machine parts, a bit of conventional percussion, various effects pedals, and a simple synthesizer.
900RPM would collectively like to thank Vulpe for the inspiration to start building string instruments, and for his his advice on the tuning pegs (to buy, rather than to make them). We should have listened from the start!
Mark thanks that very special moment: In the U-Bahn, playing the most epic drone album in existence, you discover your music was off, and you've been listening to engine noise for the past 20 minutes.
David thanks lesbian coffee and the Schienenersatzverkehr from hell.
Matteo thanks the Berliner Stadtreinigung.
